HUSKIES ROLL TO 2-0 WITH 69-61 WIN AGAINST PRINCETON
Junior Cameron Gelhausen poured in 15 second half points to power the North Huskies to a 69-61 varsity basketball victory over Princeton. Gelhausen finished with 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. Fellow junior Ryan Caddell added 15 points and 7 rebounds.
The Huskies played without several players due to quarantine but managed to jump out to an 8-0 lead to start the game. The Tigers recovered and eventually pulled ahead 37-34 midway through the 3rd quarter. Gelhausen then got hot, dishing an assist to Mathew Bunnell to pull the Huskies within one, and then burying a three from downtown to give the Huskies a lead they never relinquished.
As the Tigers began fouling in the game’s waning moments Gelhausen hit four consecutive free throws. He followed those up with a pair of layup baskets as the Huskies played keep away.
The Huskies play next in the Bosse Invitational on Saturday at 1:30 against Hammond High School. North advances to 2-0 with tonight’s victory over Princeton.
JAYVEES ROCK IN 20 POINT VICTORY
A pair of freshmen led the JV North Huskies to a 48-28 win over the Princeton Tigers tonight. Brayden Huebner rang up 14 points and 8 rebounds in just two quarters of play and led all scorers. Fellow frosh KeMare Barnes added 13 points and 11 rebounds while playing four quarters.
Huebner will likely see varsity action tonight with the Husky basketball team enduring a sort roster due to quarantine. Neither Chandler Moore nor Aidan Blackford appear to be available for the varsity.
