BIG NIGHTS BY JOHNSON AND PAULEY LEAD HUSKIES OVER REITZ 83-67

Playing on a "neutral court" had its advantages for North Friday night.  For the 1st time this season, North did NOT have more fouls called against them than their opponent and the free throw line disparity that has plagued the Huskies all season was "neutralized".  North beat Reitz "going away" 83-67 in the Old National Bank SIAC Classic consolation round.

"Big" Mike Johnson had his best game of his career pouring in 22 points and snatching 12 rebounds.  With Reitz playing a lot of zone defense and Ty Pauley back playing point guard for North, Pauley created opportunities for Johnson and team mate Jaylen Chambers by attacking the heart of the zone.  When the Panthers collapsed on him to cut off his penetration to the basket, Pauley routinely dealt the ball to Johnson on the baseline or Chambers on the wing for open scoring chances.  Chambers became the first Husky this season record back-to-back 20 point games.

For his part, Pauley came within one rebound of recording his second "Triple Double" of the season.  His slashing and dashing style of offense allowed him to record 16 points to go with 13 assists and 9 rebounds.

North evened its season record at 5-5.  In what has been a bizarre winter schedule, the Huskies now must sit and wait 8 days before playing at home against Jeffersonville.  It is the third "long duration" layoff for North this season.  The Huskies went 11 days between playing Reitz (a win) on Dec. 6 and Mater Dei (a loss) on Dec. 17.  They then had to sit 16 days between playing Mt Vernon (a win) on Dec. 21 and Harrison (a loss) on Jan. 6.
