HOT SHOOTING HUSKIES DROP PANTHERS 96-57

North blistered the nets with a 61% shooting percentage against Reitz Tuesday evening.  The hot shooting showed up on the scoreboard as North jumped out to as much as a 47 point lead early in the 4th quarter.  Coach Scott Bunnell was able to 'empty the bench' and North coasted to a 96-57 victory.

Senior guard Ty Pauley scored a rare "Triple Double" (double figure results in three different statistical columns) with 17 points, 14 rebounds, and 16 assists.  The rebound and assist numbers were the most by a Husky in a single game in over five years.  Jay'von Gilmore led the Huskies in scoring with 26 points and contributed 6 rebounds and assists as well.  Junior Jaylen Chambers extended his string of double figure games to four with 19 points.

Reitz started the game pushing an up-tempo offense and utilized two platoons of players.  They routinely made swaps of four and five players to keep their stamina from lagging as they rushed the ball up court.  Leading 12-8 at four minute mark of the 1st quarter, the early returns for the Panthers were that the strategy was working.

And then Pauley and Gilmore and Chambers took over the game.

With Pauley and guard Damar Young routinely stepping into the passing lanes on defense, North forced multiple Panther turnovers with steals and floor errors.  Pauley and Young then fed the ball up court to Gilmore and Chambers who went a combined 12 of 14 from the field over the remainder of the 1st half.  They scored on break away lay-ups and open three point shots against a Reitz defense that was scurrying to keep up in transition.

North's pressure defense extended to its half court game as well.  Meeting their opponents at the three point arc, they contested every shot and held Reitz to just 6 of 26 shooting from their bread-and-butter three point line.

The Huskies now get an 11 day break and next play at Mater Dei on Dec. 17.

In the JayVee game, freshman center Austin Elmore put on another fireworks display with 24 points while leading the Junior Varsity to a 51-43 victory.  Fellow freshman Chase Whitler added 12 points and guard Devyn Johnston scored 5 points.
